HOW THE SELECT TEAM WILL BE CHOSEN:
Team will be formed based on two types of evaluations:
- Part I. Independent Evaluation. Each player will be given a number when she arrives, and each player will only be referred to by number during the tryout. We will have at least two (2) independent, unbiased evaluators who will be evaluating players based on their fielding, throwing, batting, base-running, pitching, and catching abilities. These independent evaluators were once a part of the RGS program, but are no longer affiliated with RGS. Independent evaluators will fill out score sheets and these score sheets will then be passed on to Thunder Coord to average the scores and rank the players who have tried out. The girls who rank in the top 5 are guaranteed a spot on the Select Thunder team.
- Part II. Head Coach Evaluation. The Head Coach will have a varying philosophy on coaching and may be looking for specific type of players to fill specific positions. Head Coach is not part of the Independent Evaluation process; Coach may be on the field where they can see and hear but are separate from the evaluators. The Head Coach of the Select Red team MUST select the player ranked 1-5 by the independent evaluators. The Red Select team can take 11-13 players. (Thunder Coord/ Executive board will approve final roster) Any players that doesn’t get selected for the select team will be drafted into the Rec teams for the 2020 Spring Season.
Approximate fees to play ~$250-$450 per player (will have a better number once we get uniform quotes back, along with tournament entry fees secured)
